Health & Safety OfficerContract Position (6 Months)SC Johnson Professional® is part of S.C. SC Johnson Professional® provides expert skin care, cleaning & hygiene solutions for industrial, institutional and healthcare users. This incorporates specialist occupational skin care products along with well-known SC Johnson consumer brands and innovative professional cleaning & hygiene products.Position PurposeThe Health & Safety Officer contract position will work with the Site and Regional Safety, Health and Environmental Manager to ensure that the following Contract Deliverables are achieved during the contract period.Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required· Bachelor’s degree from an academic university in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline· Safety certification training such as CRSP is considered a strong asset.· Three to five years' experience in occupational health and safety in a manufacturing establishment.· Thorough knowledge and understanding of the OHSA and O. Reg 851· Strong organizational skills.· Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.· Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.· Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Contract DeliverablesCompliance:· Develop the Right-to-Operator (RTO) posting for the Site· Support the development of the SHE compliance/calendar master planWorking at Heights:· Develop an inventory of working-at-height tasks and conduct an initial risk evaluation· Develop a Roof Access Permit and a process to control access to the roof· Support the Working-at-Heights (WAH) program champion to conduct a WAH program gap analysis and development of a corrective action planControl of Hazardous Energy:· Complete a risk assessment to identify production-related service and maintenance tasks that require lockout or utilization of alternate proactive measures and revise equipment-specific lockout procedures for the 20 highest risk pieces of equipment at the site using the template approved by the regional SHE manager.· Implement the Line Breaking Permit and process· Develop site-specific hazardous energy control/lockout training and verification of proficiency processMachine Guarding:· Develop a process for operators to complete documented daily visual inspections of machine safety devices such as guards and presence sensing devices· Develop a preventive maintenance process to complete documented safety device (interlocks, presence sensing devices, and e-stops) functional testing on an annual basis (quarterly for injection molding equipment)Training and Development:· Work with external training vendors to arrange all health and safety training while maintaining the training matrix.· Lead the development and maintenance of training processes to ensure that required safety, health and environmental training for the site is defined, addresses required content and is tracked to completion.· Follow all applicable company policies and procedures.· Any other duties as assignedSC Johnson Professional is in compliance with the AODA Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act.
