Job Description

Range Safety Officer – Urban Tactical Brantford (UTB) Reporting to the Range Director or Senior Range Safety Officer, Urban Tactical Brantford (UTB), the Range Safety Officer – Urban Tactical Brantford (UTB) is the primary contact, and fully responsible for all activities related to the delivery of range services to all customers including range members and recreational (guest) users. The Range Safety Officer (RSO) will provide direction, guidance and direct supervision to all individuals through the range experience, ensuring all equipment is fully operational and safe to use. The RSO will actively seek opportunities to upsell additional products and services to guests.The RSO will work as a member of a team of Range Safety Officers to deliver a fun and exciting experience at The Range. The safety and health of each guest and employee is of the utmost importance; therefore strict and consistent adherence to all safety policies, procedures, processes and government laws and regulatory (including but not limited to the Occupational Safety and Health Act) is critical.As part of the UTB team, this position plays a key role in delivering the highest level of service excellence to achieve total customer satisfaction, which contributes to the overall success and profitability of the company; therefore teamwork, communication, analysis, judgment, problem-solving and initiative are core competencies.Skills Required:

  • Strict adherence to all safety, health and other laws, regulations, policies, procedures and processes
  • Gun safety; Storage of guns and ammunition
  • Wearing of personal protection devices, equipment and garments
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the maintenance of firearms in a timely manner
  • Maintain all required records, logs and other documentation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of various categories of firearms (restricted and non-restricted)
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and compliance with all cleanliness and hygiene requirements
  • Advanced skills in behaviour patterns, communications and actions to identify potential high risk / safety concerns and take necessary precautions and actions
Detailed Description:
  • Lead and guide clients through a range experience with the highest standards of safety and customer service, ensuring range members and recreational users follow all rules and regulations
  • Maintain strict adherence to all gun safety; Storage of firearms, parts and ammunition
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms (restricted and non-restricted)
  • Semi-automatic handguns
  • Revolver
  • Pump and semi-automatic shotguns
  • AR15 Platforms (very proficient)
  • Bolt action rifles
  • Semi-automatic rifles
  • Perform all regular and periodic cleaning, maintenance and repair as per policies and protocols:
  • Firearms; to ensure the availability of all gun offerings / packages:
  • Striping and assembling
  • Cleaning and lubricating
  • Part replacement
  • Facility:
  • Target retail systems fully operational
  • De-lead range
  • Walls, baffles, ceiling tiles, floor lanes (including painting)
  • Backstops
  • Alpha range zero engagement
  • Granular backstop; Monitor for correct height; free of foreign objects/debris
  • HVAC system, including filters
  • Upsell the full range of The Range / Urban Tactical products and services
  • Maintain appropriates inventory of parts, ammunition, cleaning and other products
  • Maintain lists of products and parts to be ordered to ensure the availability and uninterrupted delivery of range services
  • Maintain all logs, records and other documentation required to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements (including Chief Firearms Officer [CFO])
  • Assist in the training of all new Range Officers
  • Instruct new members with the rules and regulations of The Range; Obtain signed acknowledgement by new member of their receipt and understanding of same
  • Degree or diploma in a related field (including Military college); Minimum High School diploma
  • Proficient in the use of firearms in various categories (restricted and non-restricted)
  • Minimum five (5) years firearms and shooting experience
  • Previous experience as a range club member (preferred)
  • Maintain driver’s licence in good standing (Ontario: Class: G or G2)
  • Obtain, possess and maintain
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence (RPAL) – Ontario
