Job Description

As the Health and Safety Officer you would be responsible for conducting facility audits and supporting the environmental, industrial health and safety programs within the Canadian Automotive Group. This position reports to the Logistics Manager and will provide leadership and guidance for the location safety teams, including people, data, and budgetary responsibilities; as well as ensure ongoing and full compliance with all applicable safety regulations, workplace safety and inspection programs.RESPONSIBILITIES Act as a Health and Safety Subject Matter Expert

  • Conduct accident/incident investigations within the workplace where required
  • Assist in the preparation and information management of all Health and Safety reports, forms, and all other documentation
  • Develop company-wide safety standards and applicable training programs for all departments and employees to follow
  • Manage and conduct facility audits of all work processes and program compliance. Review and analyze audit results to confirm that corporate, business, and government standards are met.
  • Coach and develop regional employees on Standard Operating Procedures and Safe work practices
  • May be required to brief senior staff and outside agencies on all Health and Safety related matters
  • Recommend changes in procedures, policies, and practices with respect to workplace safety
  • Provide safety related performance and compliance reports
  • Keep abreast of all related Occupational health and safety legislation
  • Provide input to the budget preparation process
  • Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
  • Acceptable technical training in the field of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety (3-5 Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Workplace Safety and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Organized and self-disciplined
  • Demonstrates political and interpersonal agility
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time
