Job Description

LocationCalgary, Alberta, CanadaSummaryReporting to the Team Leader, Test Cells or designate(s), the Gas Turbine Test Cell Technicianis responsible for the testing of General Electric and/or Siemens industrial gas turbines, as wellas assisting in all aspects of repair and overhaul in the TransCanada Turbines facility.DutiesThe duties will include but will not be limited to the following:Testing

  • Accomplish the testing, repair and overhaul of General Electric and/or Siemens industrial
gas turbines, ensuring that this work is carried out in accordance with the applicableOEM manuals, TCT specifications and procedures, and standard industry practices.
  • Preparation of engines for the testing in the TransCanada Turbines test cell facility. Assist
in the support of customer engines tested other OEM facilities. Preparation of the enginesafter testing is complete for dispatch to the customer.
  • Performance Analysis in accordance with the relevant test schedules, including
production of customer test reports.
  • Develop and improve the productivity and scheduling of the test cell facility.
  • Maintenance and repair of all engine test support equipment. Perform in field
maintenance, repairs and inspections on installed units.
  • Participate in Calibration of the Test Cell equipment in accordance with TCT Quality
procedures and OEM and manufacturers specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation, electronic control systems and supporting
mechanical equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of the test cell facility for OEM approval and maintenance of
awarded approvals.
  • Develop and improve the engine test support systems.
Shop Floor
  • Hands on disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair and/or assembly of the various
product types as required to achieve shop production schedules. Make ongoing workscope recommendations based upon shop floor observations.
  • Work with production control and materials management to facilitate the flow of material
through the shop.
  • Work with the engine team(s) to ensure a focused, constructive and communicative
working environment, delivering high levels of personal and company performance fromyour team, and from the support services working with your team.
  • Monitor and maintain tooling and equipment. Ensure that this equipment is kept in a safe
reliable working order. Remove from service any tool or equipment found to bedefective.
  • Make recommendations on tooling and equipment to be provisioned for a gas generator
overhaul shop and field service group.
  • Make recommendations on policy and procedures to improve shop productivity and
profit of the company in general, and to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.General
  • Help to ensure that customer expectations are met, in terms of delivery, cost, quality and
responsiveness.
  • Monitor shop practices to ensure that the facility is always operated in a healthy, safe,
and environmentally conscience manner, per TCT policies and procedures. Take steps tocorrect any condition that violates this fundamental principle.
  • Increase knowledge of the HSE Policy and Manual and maintain a positive attitude
towards the health and safety of myself and my coworkers.
  • Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE.
  • Other duties as directed by the Team Leader, Test Cells.

It is important thatall employees are willing and able to assist with any activity, at any time, as necessary to supportthe needs of a changing and demanding customer base in the gas turbine repair and overhaulbusiness. A prime example of this would be assisting in Inspection.The minimum training and/or educational requirement for this role is 5 years related experienceor a combination of education and experience that allows the individual to adequately performthe role, determined by the Vice President Operations.
