Job Description

Company Safety OfficerOur organization is a construction and land development company in the Campbell River and Comox Valley seeking a Company Safety Officer to oversee all safety programs companywide.The desired candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills. This role will include administration of the safety program and will also require you to assist with other non-safety related administration functions.Additional on-site functions include evaluating and monitoring health and safety hazards at all project sites while developing strategies to control risks. The Safety Officer will inspect sites to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and the handling and storage of hazardous substances.We also note that construction experience is a must for the applicant.Duties of the Safety Officer will include but are not limited to:- Review physical, biological and chemical workplace hazards- Conduct safety and environmental audits- Investigate health-and-safety-related complaints, spills of hazardous chemicals, outbreaks of diseases or poisonings, and workplace accidents- Inspect workplaces to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees or the general public- Develop, implement and evaluate health and safety programs and strategies- Provide consultation and deliver training programsQualifications of the Safety Officer will include most of the requirements listed:- Occupational health and safety certificate- Minimum Level 1 First Aid certificate- Fall Arrest certificate- Zoom boom and other equipment certification- Computer and other technology skills- Maintaining and executing safety program and incident reporting- Keeping up to date with WorkSafe BC regulations and news reports- Lead on-site safety and toolbox meetings weekly- Managing and inventorying all equipment and assets throughout the organizationIf your experience and qualifications meet the expectations above we would love to hear from you.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSchedule:
