Job Description

Henry Drilling is one of the largest drilling companies in Western Canada and has the most modern drilling fleet in British Columbia. We have more than 30 years experience in the drilling business, and our specialty is tackling jobs that few other companies can do.We are seeking a skilled Safety Officer to work in our Langley facility.Duties and responsibilities:

  • Administer and enforce HFDI Health and Safety Programs/Management System and ensure understanding of H&S content by staff and new hires.
  • Assist with identifying workplace hazard and procedures and advise management on non-compliance issues or concerns.
  • Perform regular reviews of documentation received from work sites and provide instructions to address deficiencies.
  • Review and apply corrective action for investigations and inspections.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP) for H&S related tasks i.e. inspections, investigations, hazard assessments, etc.
  • Arrange training courses in liaison with management, employees and JHSC representatives.
  • Conduct safety audits and orchestrate annual external audits of company for COR compliance.
  • Receive and evaluate OHS information and ensure such information is distributed to delegated officers.
  • Monitor the organization's compliance with OHS policies, legislative requirements, best practices etc.
  • Review and update material safety data sheets for all substances and chemicals used within the Companies workplaces.
  • Draft OHS letters, email and memorandums and maintain all appropriate registers pertaining to OHS.
  • Monitor expenditure on OHS items and in liaison with management, recommend items for budgetary considerations.
  • Complete and submit documentation & reporting as mandated by regulatory bodies i.e. Worksafe Form 7.
  • Other duties as required.
Employment Requirements:
  • ROH/ROHT or CRSP designation.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Degree.
  • Certifications as required by BCCSA to maintain a status as COR Internal Auditor.
  • Certifications in external courses as required e.g. (WHMIS, First Aid, CSTS-09 etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Demonstrated Occupational Health and Safety experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of regulatory enforcement and review processes.
  • Knowledge of inspections, investigations and prosecutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts and maintain confidentiality.
  • Superior writing skills and the ability to develop, implement and review OHS documentation.
  • Valid class 5 driver's licence.
  • In town/out of town travel to sites may be required.
  • Availability to respond effectively in emergency situations and take action if necessary (24/7).
